Troop 5963 of Big Darby wanted to give back. That’s why they decided to spend time on the Jared Box Project. The goal of the project is to lift the spirits of children who are in the hospital. It can be a difficult time for them, so the boxes are filled with toys and items that inspire hope, love, and good thoughts.
The troop donated several boxes to Nationwide Children’s Hospital under the guidance of their troop leadership volunteer.
“The girls had such a great time choosing the items and making these boxes. They kept saying things like ‘I know this will be fun for her,' and ‘I wish I could see the little baby that plays with this!’” Tracy Coulter, troop leadership volunteer, said. “When my daughter and I found The Jared Box Project online, we thought of her friend and how much he would have appreciated having something like this while he was in the hospital.”
Coulter hopes that other Girl Scout troops in the community will consider doing service projects connected with the Jared Boxes Project. To learn more, visit thejaredbox.com.
