Roxanne and the other members of Troop 1944 know that not everyone has the hats, gloves or scarves they need in the winter.
And the girls decided to do something about it.
When the former leader for Troop 1944, Cassie Lewis, reached out about a partnership with Texas nonprofit Warm Up America!, Roxanne, 9, and the other Girl Scouts in the troop wanted to help.
“We just know that a lot of people weren’t as fortunate as us, so we wanted to help them,” she said.
Along with Troop 482, the girls donated almost 600 knitted and crocheted hats, scarves, mittens and blankets along High Street in Columbus, at the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, and at the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center, Lewis said.
Knowing others were happy because of what she and her fellow Girl Scouts had done, made Roxanne happy too, she said.
“I just felt really good when they kept on saying thank you very much,” she said.
