Do you know an adult volunteer who deserves recognition?

Showing love and appreciation for our volunteers is a long-standing Girl Scout tradition. After all, our volunteers are ah-mazing!

Our volunteers are all about the girls and often work extra hours on top of full schedules and busy lives. We love them for it and, well, Girl Scouting wouldn’t be the same without them. Formal Recognition Awards

Volunteer of Excellence toggle arrow

The Volunteer of Excellence award recognizes those volunteers who have contributed outstanding service to Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland. Anyone may nominate an outstanding volunteer who has contributed to the success of a troop, service unit or other area using the online form.

Criteria:

The candidate must be an active Girl Scout adult volunteer.
The candidate must have completed the required training for the position. (This will be checked by GSOH).
The candidate must have performed beyond the expectations for the position for which they are being nominated.
Names and contact information (full name, email, phone) for two individuals who have reviewed or contributed to the nomination, support the nominee, and are willing to provide any additional information as needed to complete the nomination. They must also agree with the outstanding service of the nominee.

If you would like to nominate a Girl Scout adult volunteer for the Volunteer of Excellence award, please complete the form.

Once the nomination is received it will be processed and returned to the service unit for approval if needed and the pin distributed at a service unit meeting.

Appreciation Pin toggle arrow

The Appreciation Pin recognizes an individual's exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience within one service delivery area.

Honor Pin

The Honor Pin recognizes an individual's exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE); this support has had measurable impact on two or more service delivery areas to reach and surpass the mission-delivery goals of the council.

Thanks Badge toggle arrow

The Thanks Badge honors an individual whose ongoing commitment, leadership, and service have had an exceptional, measurable impact on meeting the mission-delivery goals and priorities of the entire council or the entire Girl Scout Movement.

Thanks Badge II toggle arrow

The Thanks Badge II honors a previous Thanks Badge award recipient who have continued to provide exemplary service in a leadership role which resulted in a measurable impact benefiting the entire Girl Scout Movement.

From the Heart Award toggle arrow

The From the Heart Award is presented to a member (girl or adult) who lives the Girl Scout Promise and Law to such an extent that they make a lasting impact on the life/lives of others. The recipient of this award has made the world a better place and has gone so far above and beyond that no other award even comes close to representing the magnitude of the contribution. Contact your membership manager regarding the nomination process.

The President's Award toggle arrow

The President's Award recognizes the efforts of a service delivery team, committee whose exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) surpassed team goals and resulted in signifigant, measurable impact toward reaching the council's overall goals. Ask your membership manager for the list of requirements.

Year Guards toggle arrow

Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland gives Year Guards to members with over 25 years of membership. For volunteers with 5-20 years, contact the council shop.

Recognize birthdays.
Send a card.
Send or pick some flowers.
Share a cup of coffee, or a gift card for a treat.
Send a friendly note of encouragement!
Your service unit can think of fun ways to award everyone based on each person’s unique skills such as the “Best at Paperwork” award gets a roll of paper towels.
Think of your own meaningful ways to thank your fellow volunteers!
