Background:
There is a serious need for more robust STEM programming, especially for girls. Recognizing this problem, Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland “Dreamed Big” to create solutions to fuel the workforce pipeline of the future—which is even more integral with the arrival of new employers including Intel. Through this project, Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland will provide girls pathways to in-demand careers and bridge the gender gap in STEM fields.
Nationally, Girl Scouts pledged to put 2.5 million more girls in the STEM pipeline by 2025.Through Girl Scout STEM programs, girls are able to lead their own exploration of STEM, engage in cooperative learning and teamwork, solve problems, and take on leadership roles. STEM activities provide hands-on learning opportunities and give girls the opportunities to learn through trial and error.
